Welcome To SpinesAndShiatsu.co.uk

My aim is to reduce the pain and suffering in animals.

Many animals, especially horses go on through life with sore backs, swollen joints, tight shoulders, rotated hips and pelvis as well as misaligned vertebrae in their neck or subluxated polls.

On a daily basis I come across horses with chronic sore back’s who have just been participating in events such as show-jumping or endurance riding without complaint the day before!

A good owner will pick up on the subtle changes in a horse’s behaviour:-

  • Moving away/dipping/biting/kicking when you place the saddle on or mount up.
  • Napping or even just, less active paces.
  • Refusal to canter on one rein
  • Unwilling to bend to the left or the right.
  • Bucking or rearing commences when the owner has ignored the horse trying to tell them politely that they are in pain.

As you are on my website then well done, you are listening to your horse and understanding his change in behaviour may be due to pain or discomfort.

I use both Spinal Manipulation & Shiatsu therapies to help address a wide range of musculoskeletal problems. The treatment that I give will vary for each horse & dog depending on what the animal requires.

My treatment begins with Shiatsu, which works on the soft tissue of the animal using acupressure and massage. Shiatsu can involve rotation and stretches of limbs, head and tail, all with the aim to alleviate pain and relax the animal.

I then go onto Spinal Therapy, which concentrates, on the animal’s skeleton. I assess the joints and the spine for flexibility, stiffness and pain reaction. I then adjust the animal’s skeleton where necessary.

I am a fully qualified, insured and experienced practitioner.

It is recommended that you have your horse’s back checked at least every 6 months.

Regular shiatsu treatments & skeletal adjustments can help stop minor soft tissue injuries becoming further aggravated. If your horse is in hard work eg competing regularly or is getting a bit older then physical therapy can support your horse for a longer working life and healthier, happier retirement!

Remember – Prevention is better than cure

Most horses & dogs find shiatsu & spinal therapy beneficial, enjoyable and relaxing.
